Dia 8 - Day 8

Day 8 – Storm = rest and artwork

We wake to discover that there is a storm out at sea, so capture and fieldwork is off for the day.  After sleeping in, we spend the day cleaning, washing, and sitting around in the sun with coffee.  In the afternoon we discuss the plan for the Karumbé stand that we will organize for the fiesta in La Coronilla on the weekend.  We organize posters with information about the work of Karumbé in Uruguay, the species of turtles that can be found here, and practical actions that can help to conserve the turtles.  We also draw some additional, very colourful, posters with more information about where the turtles come from, and the numbers of turtles that Karumbé has captured in the different seasons of the past year; demonstrating that La Coronilla is an important turtle feeding site all year round.  In the evening, five more students arrive, and the Karumbé family grows again. 

Dia 8

Hoje acordamos às 7 horas com o mesmo propósito de capturar tartarugas em Cerro Verde, ou seja, um dia muito intenso. Mas verificamos que o mar estava muito revolto; se podia ouvir o quebrar das ondas da nossa habitação. Então resolvemos não fazer a saída e aproveitar o dia pra organizarmos o material de um evento anual muito importante que ocorre em La Coronilla. Fizemos desenhos e preparamos o material que iremos apresentar amanha dia 9/10/10.
